A recent announcement by Alcatel lets us know we can expect two new budget smartphones at IFA 2017. These are the Alcatel Idol 5 and the Alcatel A7.
These new smartphones are specifically targeting millennials. The Idol 5 comes equipped with a feature known as the App Cloner. It duplicates social media apps such as WhatsApp and Instagram, giving you the ability to be logged into two accounts, without the need of having to get logged out of either.
The standard smartphone specs might be what you would normally expect. You get a display that features full HD at 5.2 inches, a octa-core processor that is a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6753, 3 gigs of RAM, 16 gigs of storage, a rear camera features 13MP and a front camera featuring 5MP as well as a 2,800mAh battery.
Alcatel went a little bigger with the A7 and gave it a little more power as well. It is a little bit cheaper than the Idol 5 version, but does not target the millennials quite as much with gimmicks. The A7 will give you features such as a full HD display at 5.5 inches, an octa-core processor clocking 1.5GHz, 32 gigs of storage, 3 gigs of RAM, a rear-facing camera with 16MP, a front-facing camera at 8MP and a 4,000mAh battery.
Both of these new phones can only be obtained in Europe at the present time. However, you can almost bet on seeing them reach the United States in just a matter of month. Alcatel’s history dictates a move such as this. In Europe, the starting price for the A7 is €299, or you can get the Idol 5 for €239.
You can also look forward to the Alcatel Idol 5S, which will have a few different features than the Idol 5. It will have a display that features 2.5D glass protection and be powered by a Helio P20 octa-core processor. Internal storage will be 32GB that can be expanded up to 256GB by utilizing the microSD slot.
And finally, there will be the Alcatel A7 XL, which will offer a dual camera in the back as well as a fingerprint scanner just under that. The volume key and power key will be located on the edge on the right. It will be available in Metal Blue, Metal Black, Metal Gold and even Rose Gold with the biggest display of all the new Alcatel models so far, at an impressive six inches. The display will be full HD at 1080x1920 pixels, Dragontrail glass protection and a MediaTek MT6750S octa-core processor.
